I dont think that water discoloration is from main fabrics having been dyed.. These are unbleached.
I’m double-checking, for written confirmation & will report back, but *to clarify* >> this is natural color is not from dye.
I also asked about the water thing you mentioned, but some discoloration could easily be a result of something else. Bleach will affect not only the main fabrics, but any dye used on contrast stitching or a variety of patchwork or inks from direct print being dissolved and diluted, etc

And yeah I think it might depend when you wash. If you've let the gi accumulate skin oil, grime, etc for a few classes, with a thorough wash it will certainly turn water brown; this is true of basically any linen like dish cloths etc.

As for bleaching, why would you bleach it? It's also possible, though I don't actually know, that the natural colour could bleed off in a thorough wash/bleach/boiling water.

Also, I really appreciate HQ staff jumping in on the convo! Would like to see more.

@Adder - weve always been here, only thing is: we recently changed our pic and name lol. Used to say Username: “Inside Mankaku — Verified Admin” with pic of rashguard. Now we’re bright color and simple”BJJHQ” :)

@ OP - confirmed with kitsune, 93brand, & fabric suppliers; these are not dyed at all. That would actually increase the cost of the garment compared to natural non-bleach-treated fabrics.

Wow though. Just washed my brand new Inverted Gear unbleached 400 in cold, no dryer, and here we have it to hang. What. The. Fuck.

Agreed, I hated the pants of the kitsune gi I bought, and the top was too beefy too soft and too lightweight. I like kitsune nogi stuff a lot though.

What do you use? What are thick/tough enough in your opinion?

My favorite is 93 brand and I love a good 425 or 450 GSM. Not too thick/heavy and feels very balanced.

My Sanabul gi has lasted me a year now. I wish they came in A3L though, i have to buy A4… great for competition!

Its 350 gsm brodie. Hell yeah its light. I personally like them better than 93 even though i believe they're cut from the same cloth so to speak. Its the artwork, cut, and design that does it for me.
