How good are these mats' shock absorption and are they too soft or quite firm on the surface?
They’re bit softer than puzzle mats, comparable to wrestling mats. They have a slick type sheath on the top that can be good or bad depending on what moves you’re working on. They’re very manipulatable which is nice if you need the area. You can roll ‘em & stand them on end. All in All I’d Recommended them!! :)
Compared to puzzle mats, they're a little softer but significantly thicker. We'll be getting more ASAP!

Smooth is good for ground work, but if you’re wanting to work more stand up get tatami.
